Cardiology and Thoracic Surgery Immediate Care Unit

im dong The Cardiology and Thoracic Surgery Intermediate Care Unit, C4-1, is an 18 bed unit for adult patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. It is a broad mix of surgical and medical patients and utilized by many services, for example neurology, orthopaedics, oncology, and plastic surgery. There is also a subspecialty of thoracic surgery on C4-1 that provides unique challenges to the nursing staff. Given the clinical challenges on C4-1, the nurses must have a wide skill set and extensive knowledge in order to provide the best possible care for their patients. To sum up the environment on C4-1 - it is one that promotes autonomy and continuous learning.
