The Georgetown Diabetes Center provides comprehensive diabetes care for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, and drug-induced diabetes. Care providers spend extensive time listening to patients needs and therapy to meet the patient's lifestyle, as well as for reaching target goals for glucose control. The goal of this interactive approach is to improve the quality of life of all patients who visit us. Diabetes education is given individually, based on the patient's needs. The emphasis of diabetes education is on providing each patient with the skills and knowledge for making sound decisions for self-care. As health care professionals, we work closely as a team. Our philosophy is that the patient with diabetes needs to be the most knowledgeable and skilled member of the diabetes team to meet the day to day challenges that are encountered with diabetes.
