Movement Disorder Service
Pediatric neurologists use an interdisciplinary team approach to evaluate and manage children and adolescents who have motor and/or verbal tics, Tourette syndrome, dystonias, myoclonus, tremors, chorea or hereditary or acquired ataxias. Surgical deep brain stimulation is available for pharmacoresistant movement disorders.

Neuromuscular & Neurodegenerative Disorders
Expert care of children who have neurodegenerative disorders and symptoms such as spasticity, developmental regression, visual loss and lack of coordination. For children with suspected neuromuscular disorders (muscle weakness, neuropathy, etc.), the Division of Pediatric Neurology works closely with the adult neurology department to facilitate testing, including electromyography and nerve conduction studies. The Division of Pediatric Neurology offers diagnosis and treatment for children in a caring and compassionate environment.

Pediatric Sleep Disorders Clinic
Provides a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and manage sleep disorders in children and adolescents. The program includes a team of pediatric specialists in pulmonary medicine, neurology, otolaryngology and psychology who evaluate children and adolescents with sleep disturbances and offer recommendations for medical, surgical and/or behavioral treatment. Full polysomnography, bilevel positive airway pressure and continuous positive airway pressure (BIPAP/CPAP) testing and Multiple Sleep Latency Tests are performed at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center, which is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
