Skilled Georgetown Surgeons Use Hand Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery for Both Liver and Pancreas Tumor Removal
Two Georgetown surgeons are successfully utilizing a special hand-assisted laparoscopic technique for liver and pancreas tumor removal. Chief of Surgery, Lynt Johnson, MD, MBA and chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery Patrick Jackson, MD are accomplished surgeons who are offering patients the opportunity to have better outcomes, based on the high volume of such surgeries they perform.
MedStar Health’s Regional Colorectal Surgery Program
Three years after implementation of MedStar Health’s regional Colorectal Surgery program, the results are making everyone happy — patients, referring physicians and colorectal surgeons.
Creating a regional approach to colorectal surgery in the southern MedStar region was a multi-step process, but since April of 2012, more than 200 colorectal surgery appointments have been scheduled at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center with the expert assistance of a dedicated nurse navigator.
