Pediatric Residency Program
The Georgetown Pediatric Residency Program is now
looking back on over 40 years of experience. Its affiliation with one of the
oldest and most prestigious universities in the country and its location in the
nation's capitol provide it with a unique position, both academically and
culturally. From Georgetown University we have adopted the philosophy of 'cura
personalis', the care of the whole human being, and from our location in
Washington, D.C. we have gained a local, national and international outlook,
which is reflected in our diverse patient, resident and faculty population. Residents coming to Georgetown University find a
training program that prepares them for further education in some of the best fellowship programs in the country, as well as for careers in dynamic primary care practices in the metropolitan area. Emphasis is placed on comprehensive rather than specialized education, and residents are exposed to community hospitals, outreach projects in underserved communities, research activities at the National Institute of Health, and tertiary pediatric care at Georgetown University itself. Local and international electives are facilitated and encouraged, and residents get unique exposure to some of the child advocacy groups and organizations working in the nation's capital.
