Emergency Department Fellowship

The Emergency Department Fellowship Program has been designed and developed in collaboration with the Critical Care Department. New graduates will attend the thirteen-(13) day Critical Care Course sponsored by the Greater Washington Area Chapter Consortium of American Association of Critical Care Nurses. After successful completion of the program, an additional two-day Emergency Nursing Program will be included.

Emergency Department Fellows will be precepted/mentored by expert ED nurses. Using Pat Benner's model, the fellow will develop technical, interpersonal, and critical-thinking skills - essential components of nursing competency. Fellows, in collaboration with other dynamic and motivated members of the ED team, will have the opportunity to care for Level I trauma patients as well as patients throughout the lifecycle.
